About Us

The North Hampshire Brewers meet at 8pm on the last Tuesday of every month in the Queens Arms, Basingstoke. The pub is right next to Basingstoke railway station so no need to bring the car!

The Queens Arms, Basingstoke

We are affiliated to the Craft Brewing Association but, while we receive most of our members through this channel, we don’t insist on CBA membership for our members.

The North Hampshire Brewers is an informal and friendly club with no subscriptions, no chairman, no treasurer and no badges. Members are free to come and go as they like but we have a core of about 8 members who have been involved with the club for a long time, in some cases since the very begining.

Every club, group, company or collection of people seems to have to have a mission statement these days (God knows how people organised themselves beforehand!). For us this “Mission” is simple; The North Hampshire Brewers exists to help members make the best beer possible and have a bit of fun along the way.

Despite the name of the club, the regular membership comes from Hampshire, Surrey, Wiltshire and Berkshire. Meeting, as we do, in a pub next to a mainline railway station means the club meetings are reasonably accessible.

In addition to the monthly meetings we also have ad-hoc brew days where a member will invite others to join them for a brew day. This is particularly good for people who are looking to move from extract to all grain or if they have issues with their own beers and would like other members to help troubleshoot their process. It’s normally advisable to use public transport for these days though! We have also had a number of club trips including a couple of brewery trips, an evening on the Real Ale Train (steam trains and beer) and a couple of meals out for Christmas.
