Minutes of Previous Meetings
28th October "Freestyle". We met Scott for the first time. Tried an interesting beer that appears to have turned into water in the keg as well as a number of pale ales and bitters and a rather nice partially mashed Octoberfest beer. We also agreed that future "Freestyle" nights would see discussions on common faults and specific styles of beer.
September 30th 2008 "Whitbread 1850 Porter". A great turnout! Double figures for the first time in months. Also, 4 beers to the scheduled recipe plus another porter and various pale ales for tasting. Good to see Mark for the first time but sad to hear that Martin is leaving us to move to New Zealand, all the best with the new life mate. Sara announced that she is going to work at the Triple fff brewery. The rest of us were all extremely jealous but wish her the very best.
August 26th 2008 "Freestyle". 7 members and a good assortment of beers. Tom distributed the tickets for the real ale train on the 13th of September and asked if anyone was interested in a trip around the "fff Brewery". Sara's elderflower beer was a great success; a little overpowering on the nose but a beautiful flavour. New recruit, Pete impressed us all with some wonderful extract beers, good work Pete and we look forward to trying that AG porter next month. In all we had 2 x honey beers, 1 x elderflower beer, 1 x Koelsch, 2 x porters and 5 bitters. We also agreed the schedule for next year.
July 29th 2008 "Honey Beer". 7 of us turned up and had a great night. Mike brought along his counterflow chiller much to the amusement of the other pub users and we tasted honey beers, pale ales and a wheat beer.
June 24th 2008 "Freestyle". Only 5 members but it was a good night. 3 versions of Simonds bitter, a Vienna lager and a pale ale were tasted.
May 27th 2008 - 1.050 Lager. Only 4 lagers but a whole host of other beers to sample. So many, in fact, that I seem to have forgotten to record them. So they must have been good! Also, this was the biggest turn out for several months. A couple of new members (welcome Alan and Tom) to help swell the numbers.
March - 1.050-1.060 Pale ale selection for the CBA competition. 4 beers put forward but we all agreed that none were good enough to enter the competition.
